WHAT IS AYURVEDA?

Ayurveda is one of the oldest health systems in the world for harmonising mind-body-soul or the science of life (in sanskrit, ayur means life + veda means knowledge/science). It is much more than a system of natural healing, it is the perfect combination of science and wellness.

Ayurveda aims to prevent illnesses and diseases while promoting a natural and healthy lifestyle.  Ayurvedic skincare helps bring the skin to its own perfect balance. Cleansing, nourishing and protecting are the key benefits.

Within Ayurveda is one of the most comprehensive cleansing protocols known as panchakarma. This practice includes five therapies to release and eliminate accumulated toxins from deep within the tissues to help balance the three doshas.

A SYSTEM OF BALANCE

At the heart of Ayurveda is the principle of balance. There are four aspects of the body that need to be in complete balance to stay healthy.

Doshas: The three doshas or energies, help maintain the balance of body and mind.

Agni: Is the digestive fire of the body. When agni is healthy, food is properly digested.

Dhatus:  The dhatus are the seven tissues of the body, in English known as plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bone, marrow / nerve, and reproductive tissue. Healthy dhatus allow the body to balance essential energy or prana in Sanskrit.

Malas: These are the body’s excretions which need to function well for healthy living.

doshas

Doshas or the three types of energy are the back-bone of Ayurveda. All the doshas are found in everyone, however, we all have them in different proportions which determines your constitution. Each of the doshas are made up of two of the five elements which give the dosha its characteristics.
